.5 3-shot Setup

One of the most abusive hunter tools is the 3-shot combo against helpless targets. If a target is frozen, scattershotted, entangled, etc., this is an excellent time to 3-shot them. I will go through the freezing trap setup and you can adapt to your particular situation. The nice part about this combo is that you can practice it against mobs since the sequence is exactly the same.

Suppose a warrior charges you in melee...

A. Place down a trap and stand on your trap. The warrior will eventually get frozen.
B. Trinket to break his hamstring, run through the warrior and hunter's mark him while running.
C. Jump-shot scorpid sting the warrior (this does not break the trap). Make sure your autoshot is off; you may want to use a macro that turns your autoshot off whenever you use scorpid sting.
D. Run to maximum range (optionally, use AotC to get there faster) and turn around.
E. Make sure you are on AotH.
F. Hit rapid fire and activate any damage trinkets such as +AP.
G. Start steady-shot and send in your pet.
H. Start pressing your arcane shot button madly.
I. You will get a steady shot, arcane shot, and auto shot off near-instanteously.
J. Press kill command because probably one of those shots critted.
K. Concussive shot and start kiting. Once your trap cooldown is up, repeat.

That is probably why I do not like PvP.

I have no idea what trinket you are talking about. Am no good at the jump shot which I think I understand and all that other stuff is just to tedious for me to worry about.

I seem to do just fine one on one with the tactics I use.

My problem with PvP and battlegrounds in general is that it is never one on one. It seems that the enemy is always more organized which is not hard since I have yet to get any instructions from the 'wizards of the battlegrounds' in any battleground I have been in as to what to do next.

Last night for example.

We go into Arathai Basin I think it was. I clearly stated that I had never been there and did not know anything about it long before the battle started. The only instructions I heard where for group one to go one place group 2 another and group three a third thats was it. Aside fromt he fact that I did not know where my target area was I followed folk from my group.

Then I hear "We need to take another node". We had three (or so I thought) so I thought there were a lot more than 3 to be taken (turns out there are only 4). But no indication of which one we were to go after or which of us were top stay behind which were to go attack etc.

I was at the node closest to the entrance and noticed red names on the hill to our right so went up there to scout. And indeed there was a battle going on. I joined in and helped take out a few before someone - probably that darned annoying rogue took me out. After that there was little discussion ofwhat to do and we just proceded to loose all but the closest node and that only because they felt no need to take it and all of us were just running around getting double and triple teamed and dying while others just cryed about the nasty rogue.

Absolutley no coordination at all.

And Warsong Gulch was even less coordinated and surprise surprise we lost that too - did I mention just how much I HATE loosing?

I did not write the guide thing , i got it from the WoW forums.

You were in a bad AB group. If you have 3 nodes, there are 5 total, the key is to defend those three and you win. Alliance does suffer alot form lack of organization and leadership. In general for both AB and EoS the key is to fight as near the flag as possible.

The jump and shoot thing is only necesaary, IMO, if the wing clip, traps and shots are not sticking. otherwise you can just walk backwards and do the stop and shoot; its what i mostly use Smile

Yea guess I was ranting a bit after that Battleground - my appologies. I will have to go in there again and get more used to the setup and such.

Tag is a Beastmaster Hunter so does not even have scatter shot which some of my other hunters have and would be really nice in PvP it seems. I will develop tactics fitting a Beastmaster as it seems that we, as a guild, are heading towards the PvP arena for gear updates.

Hehe my pet is a REAL monster and finished off at least two opponents that ran out of my range as I was getting pummelled by that darned Rogue and his associates (they were NEVER just one on one fights). Hehe bet those guys were surprised at ole Chipper Cool All those beastmaster talents and the spell that makes him grow and do MUCH greater damage for the win! Plus his Intimidate works VERY well in PvP Shocked and from range too . . .

Question: That big table that comes up at the end saying who did what to whom, does that add my pet's damage in with mine?

I do not know if pet damage is included. I'll check my DPS meter which gives it to me separately and compare next time i use plum in arena

All right, so i made a hunter to twink at 19. and i found out why i hate hunters to much....they are unstoppable. I'd usually start out by sending my pet in, I had a boar that knew charge 2 bite 3 and gore 3, then i'd hit the target with a serpent sting, arcane shot, and if they were coming after me, or after someone in general, a concussive shot would most definately be in order. I got chased a lot, but with Dinner at their heels and Dessert (Me) running in circles spamming arcane, concussive, serpent sting, i took down a lot of opponents. I even had one time where i killed someone, and then my pet just took off out of nowhere, so i followed him, and turned out he was attacking a BE priest, well the priest kept running and running and my pet kept following, and attacking, Dinner finished off the priest w/o my help...Turns out you DO have to finish off Dinner before you can have Dessert. I agree with Tag that the major problem with BG's is it is never 1 on 1, more typically it is like 12 on 1. That is the biggest reason i really dislike 70 BG's and tend more towards the low level BG's with twinked toons.

Oh, and as a BM hunter...Warlocks will be your play toy, just pop Bestial Wrath and when they are trying to fear you pop The Beast Within and the warlock will have no chance.

I play my hunter in BG as if I was a sniper. I stay to the back and just inch forward hitting tab to target the closest targrt to me, DPS away then rinse repeat. When the healer gets a clue as to what I'm doing and sees that I CC anyoen making a run for healer and ehals me too then I pile a body count of 100 to 150 Smile
